A movie company surveyed 1000 people. Of those surveyed, 229 people said they went to see the new movie on Friday, and 256 people said they went on Saturday. If 24 people saw the movie both nights, what is the probability that a person chosen at random saw the movie on Friday or Saturday?

but 24 went both nights so need to subtract the double-counting
= 485-24 = 461

that is out of 1000 ppl
so probability = 461/1000 = 0.461

461 converted into probability =
[tex] \frac{461}{1000} = 0.461[/tex]
