Natural wetlands are flat and often have deep, nutrient rich soil with an abundant water supply. These conditions are ideal to agriculture

The main reason why the wetland habitats are often favored for transforming to new farmland is that the natural wetlands are flat and often hold deep, nutrient-rich loam with plentiful water availability. In other words, the natural wetlands possess sufficient water supply and soil with rich nutrient etc. which presents a perfect condition for farming. Thus, they prefer converting to new agricultural land.
