Explanation:

In human body, there are two types of cell namely somatic cells and the germ cells. Those cells which are involved in formation of organs other than male and female gametes they are called as somatic cells. On other hand, the cell involved in formation of female and male gametes they are called as germ cells.

The somatic cells have 46 chromosomes, whereas the germ cell has 23 chromosomes. It is because, the somatic cell divides though a phenomenon called as mitosis, whereas the germ cell divides through another phenomenon called meiosis.
