Angelica is painting the bottom and sides of a rectangular planter. She has enough paint to cover 300 square inches. The planter is 13 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 8 inches tall. Find the surface area of the planter and tell if Angelica has enough paint.

Respuesta :

sorry i came for the points

We have to find the Surface area of the planter

Now it says

length = 13 inches

Width = 5 inches

Height = 8 inches

Now to find the complete surface area of bottom and sides , we can find the surface area of bottom and then we can find the surface area of opposite sides , because the opposite sides will have the same area

So

Surface area = Surface area of bottom + 2( surface area of one side ) +2( surface area of adjacent side)

hence Surface area = (13 * 5 ) + 2(13*8) + 2(5*8) = 65 + 208 +80 = 353 Square inches

Surface area = 353 square inches

while she has only 300 square inches of paint ,

Hence it will not be enough
