Sound proof tiles are made of a porous surface (with lots of holes) so that the sound is not transmitted from room to room. This is a good example of ____of sound wave energy.
A-absorption
B-amplification
C-diffraction
D-refraction
This is a good example of absorption of sound wave energy. (A) The idea is that if some sound energy goes into one of the little holes, it never comes out !
The small holes in the tiles do a good job of absorbing the sound waves. As the pressure of the sound wave hits the tile, it moves to catch the wave and not keep it moving to the other side.
