The biggest problem with the cost of running for office is the inequality it creates. People with low incomes are at a huge disadvantage if they decide to run for public office.

Considering how much money it costs to run a campaign, it is easy to see why it is usually done by some of the wealthiest individuals in American society. The average American does not necessarily have the money needed to make this run. This results in them having to spend a significant amount of time on fundraising, rather than focusing on what they will do to help improve society. On the other hand, wealthy individuals can rely on their own fortunes or the connections they've made in order to adequately fun their campaign.

Getting campaign funds can harm the election process.
