1. How does Tom feel when he hears his aunt and Mrs. Harper talking?

1. Tom feels noble and important because he likes to hear them say nice things about him, but he is also sad that he caused his aunt pain.

2. He does not leave his aunt the note like he planned to because he hears about the funeral planned for Sunday
