The themes of "Daisy Miller" appear to be innocence, social structures, and identity. Daisy is rich and is from a different social structure and life than Winterbourne. When Winterbourne visits her in Rome, he is worried about her reputation because she is spending time with fortune-hunters. Daisy has an innocence when it comes to her reputation, but is also searching for her identity. She pretends not to care what Winterbourne thinks about her, but she really does.
