The Sand Creek Massacre was known as the mass murder of people from Cheyenne and Arapaho and it was carried out by army of United States in the American Indian wars which took place on November 29, 1865. Force of third Colorado Cavalry which had 635 men and was commanded by colonel of the Army, John Chivington. His troop attacked and destroyed a village in Cheyenne which was situated in southern Colorado territory and this attacked killed over 500 Native Americans and among those 500, Two-third people were women and children. Before Chivington and his army left that area, they took the horses along of the villagers and when the smoke cleared, they came back and killed the people who were wounded and also chopped off the heads. Chivington and his men also dressed their weapons and headgears with the scalps and other body parts of the people who they killed and trophies were publically displayed by them in area Saloons.
