The terrorists used the speed and surprise factors in their warfare. They were elusive and cunning and hid among the civilian population. They conducted ambushes and raids, used snipers, land mines and traps. They carried out bombings and assassinations against foreigners and South Vietnamese government officials but there were also civilian casualties. These terrorist attacks escalated so much President John F. Kennedy increased the number of military advisers sent to South Vietnam.
