All the societies discussed in the unit had public places of worship for their gods and goddesses—for example, the Greek temples and the Aztec pyramids. Why do you think these public buildings were important to these civilizations? What might be a modern-day equivalent?

Places of worship were, and continue to be, significant because they were thought to be where the gods' and goddesses' presence was strongest and their power manifested best. I think that the best modern-day equivalent would be any place where you feel at peace, for me it is in my room with my crystals/stones. They bring me comfort and peace so this would be my “temple”.
