Period of Isolation from the foreign affairs for United States started when Roosevelt became president of the country and made it clear that his primary focus during his tenure will be taking American economy to new heights. He always believed in working for peace and was of a notion that if United States will share good rapport with foreign nations then it will automatically reduce domestic issues of the US by half and that was the reason that he decided to adopt policy of isolation.
