The Presidential Primary elections are held in various states of United States and these elections form part of the nomination process of the Candidates for the Presidential elections of United States. The process of Presidential Primary elections is not specified in the constitution of United States and because of that both top political parties have developed their own Procedure over the course of time with regards to selection procedure of President. There are some states which prefer Primary elections during the early months of the year and these elections are known to be staggered and generally take place during January or February and go on till June before the Presidential election that takes place in the month of November. It is duty of the state and local governments to run primary elections. North Dakota was the first state of United States to hold primary elections and that took place in year 1912.
