During War of 1812 the battle of New Orleans was not won by the French navy, it was won by the United States army over the British army. The outcome of this Battle gave Andrew Jackson the popularity he needed to won the presidency years later, because he commanded an army of volunteers that overcomed the odds by making a barrier, despite of their inexperience and being outnumbered by the Britishs.
