What you must do for this case is a division to find the number of times that Bertha submerges with respect to Vernon.
 We have then:
 Bertha's dive ended = -32 m
 Vernon's dive ended -4 m
 N = (Bertha's dive ended) / (Vernon's dive ended)
 N = (- 32) / (- 4)
 N = 8
 Answer:
 Bertha's dive was 8 times farther than the end of Vernon's dive
