Competition can result in territory obtained by one kind of birds, causing the other birds to find somewhere else. There can also be competition in food where one type of bird takes over resulting in other birds finding another habitat leading to a decrease and limitation in the size of a bird population.
if there wasn't enough food available, then members of the bird population would have to compete with other populations & with each other for food to survive.
