Consider the equation 1/3x−2=x+2. Write a system of linear equations using each side of the equation. Then solve the original equation by graphing the system of linear equations.

[tex]y = x+2[/tex]

Solution: (-6,-4) for the graphed system( the point of intersection)
Note: when substituting -6 in for x in the original equation we see that it satisfies the equation. So -6 is the solution of the original equation.
