eileen and michelle scored 48% of their teams points. If their team had a total of 50 points, how many points did they score? Explain.

Find 10%= 5 ( move the decimal place once)
5x4=20
To find the 8% find 1% which equals 0.5 ( move the decimal point 2 places) then 0.5x 8= 4

Add 40% =20 and 8%=4
=24
48% = 0.48 
So...48% of x is equal to 50 : 
0.48x = 50 
x = 104.1666666666... or 625/6 :) hope this helps
