emilio had $150 on a gift card he used the gift card to purchase 8 dvds. adam had $175 on a gift card and used the gift card to purcahse 10 of the same dvds that emilio purchased. they both have the same amount left on their gift card.

150 - 8d = 175 - 10d
-8d + 10d = 175 - 150
2d = 25
d = 25/2
d = 12.5...so each dvd costs 12.50

150 - 8(12.5) = 150 - 100 = 50
175 - 10(12.5) = 175 - 125 = 50

so they will each have 50 bucks left on their card
