Some nontraditional therapies can be effective to some people.  A healthcare professional should be knowledgeable about other cultures and beliefs.
Some practices may bring comfort to the patient and may be beneficial even if it's not a traditional therapy. Just because someone believes in something different doesn't necessary means it's wrong.
