Teddy Roosevelt's policies were part of his Progressive platform.

The term progressive refers to the political idea that government should help to create positive change in American society. Teddy Roosevelt achieved this through several different means.

1) Government regulations on business- Laws like the Meat Inspection Act of 1906 resulted in the federal government inspecting and creating regulations for businesses to follow to ensure the safety of meat products.

2) Sherman Anti-Trust Act- This law was aimed at stopping individuals/corporations to act like a monopoly. Roosevelt saw monopolies as mainly negative parts of society, as it reduced competition in the marketplace.
