When it comes to the five elements we find in plots in literature, we can say they have the following order:
B. Exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution.
The five plot elements
In literature, exposition is the part of a story in which the author sets the stage for what will happen. It is where the theme, characters, conflicts, setting and/or circumstances are laid out.
Rising action takes place after the exposition. It usually presents an event or a series of events in a plot that create the condition for conflicts to arise and to be solved.
The climax is the peak moment of a story, when the conflict reaches an exciting level.
Fallingaction comes after the climax, characterized by a decrease in tension. Things begin to slow down after solving the conflict.
Finally, we have the resolution. The end of the story. This is where the author gives us the final information about what happens to the characters.
