Almost all of the crayons are made out by a petroleum by-product, which is paraffin wax. These type of crayons take many years to degrade and are bad for the environment.
But there is a better and affordable option: Prang crayon.Made from soybeans, these crayon are more vivid and smoother than regular crayons and are biodegradable.

Soy is used in many inks that would go into pens. Though some still use petroleum-based products, many companies are using soy based inks because they are non-toxic and more environmentally friendly. Crayons are also moving from using a paraffin wax (a petroleum product) to soy-based wax as well.
