The question is probably lacking pictures but an explanation about the law of simplicity and the law of good continuation might help.
The law of simplicity is that we tend to observe everything in its most general sense, in its simplest form/function, for example with a house - when we see a house, we might see bricks, painting, a door, glass windows, etc., but really, what we first think about is the whole, the house.
The law of good continuation is a derivation of the latter. According to this law we tend always to see what it seems the most smoothly between two options. For example, if we see two lines crossing, we tend to follow the natural curves of the lines rather then sharpest angles of the lines. Attached is an image that clarifies it.
