Why do regions of the world near the equator (0° latitude have a more consistent climate than regions at middle latitudes?

.They get about the same amount of radiant energy year-round. The angle of the sun at the equator is more consistent, whereas in higher latitudes, such as in Canada, the sun's angle changes more significantly from summer to winter.
