Alcinous likes Odysseus very much, it seems. He relates very much to Odysseys's way of thinking as well. Alcinous offer his daughter as a sign of his hospitality towards Odysseus, who refuses because, even though he had some affection for Nausicaa, he wanted to go back to his wife, Penelope.
