A spinner has 4 equal sections. Red, blue, yellow and green. Maria spins the spinner and tosses a coin. Which shows the sample space for spinning and tossing the coin?

Respuesta :

Sample space is the list of outcomes. To find out the list of outcomes of the problem stated above, let us use the Theoretical Probability.

Theoretical Probability=   favorable Outcome
                                       total possible outcomes
Let us suppose the following:
P(blue) = no. of ways to land on blue
                              total no. of colors
                   = 1/4
                   = .25
To get the percentage of the outcome, let us multiply .25 with 100
                   =.25 x 100
                   = 25%
This means, 1 out 4 is the probability of blue to occur.
The same thing happens to red, green and yellow. They have 1 possible favorable outcome out of 4 possible outcomes.
To summarize, look at the sample space below: (it is better to put them on a table)

Color                                     Outcome
blue                                            1
red                                             1
green                                         1
yellow                                         1

Here is the probability: Each color may occur once out of 4.
