Circle graph shows 42% of students surveyed preferred football. 33% preferred baseball. 25% preferred soccer. If 210 people chose football, how many total students were polled?
There are 500 total students. Can someone show me how to set this problem up please so I understand how to do them moving forward?
210 divided by .42 will give you 500 (which is the population that was surveyed). Moving forward, you simply turn the percentages into decimals and multiply it by the total population of 500. So:
500 x .33 = 165 people who preferred baseball 500 x .25 = 125 people who preferred soccer
