There are 8 pints in one gallon. So, Avery would need 8 times 2 pints because she needs 2 gallons and there are 8 pints in every gallon. 

8 x 2 = 16

Now subtract what she already has from the total she needs. 

16 - 7 = 9

So, Avery needs 9 more pints of milk.
Since there are 8 pints in 1 gallon, there are 16 pints in 2 gallons. 16-7=9. So she would need 9 more pints. There are 2 cups in 1 pint, so just double the amount of pints she needs. 9×2=18. So she would need 18 cups of milk. Hope I helped!
