How the surface of earth takes shape?
Earth surface constantly changes its shape. The heavy raining, and snow fall break down the large rocks and moves the sediments on the surface.
There is three major process which changes the shape of earth surface are-
- Weathering-In the weathering process the large rocks break down. The break down of rocks creates the sediments. Water breaks down the large rocks from the side of the mountain. Thus the water is best example of weathering. Ritseling cave is the example of it.
- Erosion- The rocks break down into small pieces in the process of weathering. This small pieces then moved from one place to another in the process of erosion. Wind carries away the small pieces of break down rock from one place to another. Thus the wind is a example of erosion. Caves river bank are the example of it.
- Deposition- The break down rocks, after the process of erosion deposited to another place. This process of deposition is known as deposition. This deposition of material creates the islands or sand dunes. Beaches and deltas are the example of deposition.
Hence,
- In weathering process the rocks break down and creates sediments.
- In erosion process this small rocks carried away from one place to another.
- In deposition the small rocks or material are deposited to another place.
