This symbiotic relationship provides support for the theory of Endo-symbiosis, which states that "Organelles like Chloroplasts & Mitochondria were free living prokaryotes, which eventually, helped in the formation of complex cells i.e., Eukaryotes

Answer:
The endosymbiosis theory states that a larger prokaryote cell engulfed a smaller prokaryote but due to some reason the engulfed prokaryote was not digested by larger prokaryote.
They somehow managed to live symbiotically and evolved into a eukaryotic cell. This theory was widely accepted and the origin of mitochondria and chloroplast in eukaryotic cells are assumed to happen through endosymbiosis.
Both mitochondria and chloroplast have characteristics related to the prokaryotes like both have 70s ribosome like prokaryotes have, both have their circular DNA like prokaryotic DNA. These results support the theory of endosymbiosis.
