Gerald Ford was the 38th President of the US. During his presidency, between 1974 and 1977, the involvement of the US in Vietnam War ended.

In fact, the collapse of South Vietnam after the Fall of Saigon led to the end of the conflict. Afterwards, the reunification of North and South Vietnam took place and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was founded.

In the Ford Administration, the US had already withdrawn most of its combats troops from Vietnam. Ford asked in Congress for aid for South Vietnam, but the Congress only gave 700 million dollars. Before with American troops in Vietnam power was balanced and Americans always maintained North away.

Without American aid, North Vietnam could invade South without no American intervention. The offensive began on March 20th, 1975, South Vietnam offered little resistance, they did not have air support.  On April 30th the capital of South Vietnam Saigon was captured by the People’s Army of Vietnam and marked the end of the Vietnam war with the reunification of Vietnam.
