According to my lecture, the idea of Cultivation analysis states that television produces a world reality that, while maybe erroneous, becomes the recognized reality we as culture perceive it to be true.
Cultivation theories is a sociological & communication framework used to investigate the long-term effects of media, particularly television. It implies that people who are routinely exposed to media for extended periods of time were more likely to view the world's social reality as presented by the information they consume, which impacts their attitudes & behaviors. Professor George Gerbner developed cultivation theory in the 1960s, and Gerbner and Larry Gross elaborated on it in 1976. In 1973, Gerbner developed his mass communication paradigm, which featured three forms of analysis. The first sort of study is institutional processes analysis, which examines which institutions are sponsoring and delivering the content under consideration.
