CAPILLARIES are the type of vessel that are capable of allowing the passage of gases and nutrients through its walls to nourish surrounding tissues.
The walls of the capillaries consists of thin tunica interna that is one cell thick. Only a single RBC is allowed to pass at a time. The pericytes on the outer surface of the capillaries stabilize their walls.
