Cholinesterase inhibitors can higher the concentration of acetylcholine  which lead to increased communication between nerve cells it turn may temporarily improve and stabilize the symptoms of dementia.

This is used for the treatment of Alzheimer disease which is the acetylcholinesterase selective inhibitor, donepenzil and galantamine and dual AChE , which is maintain the level of ACh by decreasing its breakdown rate.

The inhibitors is for the treatment of dementia in patients with Alzheimer's disease. Patients have been shown modest side effect on dementia symptoms such as cognition. Aricept , Razadyne ER and Exelon  are the examples of cholinesterase inhibitor. Cholinesterase is a family of enzyme  which present in the central nervous system, particularly in nervous tissue and muscles.
