The unicellular glands are the scattered single cells, such as the goblet cells, found in the mucous membranes of the small and the large intestine. The multicellular exocrine glands that is  known as the serous glands develop from the simple epithelium to form the secretory surface that help secretes directly into the inner cavity.

The goblet, or mucus cell, is the only one unicellular exocrine gland in the humans body. It is found in the lining of the intestines and also other parts of the digestive system, the respiratory tracts, and to the conjunctiva of the eye.
