What is Data Integrity?
Data integrity exists in the maintenance of, and the assurance of, data accuracy and consistency over its whole life cycle and exists as a critical aspect to the design, implementation, and use of any system that stores, processes, or retrieves data.
The term – Data Integrity - can be utilized to represent a state, a process, or a function – and exists often used as a proxy for “data quality". Data integrity demands that data be complete, accurate, consistent, and in context. Data integrity exists which causes the data useful to its owner.
There are mainly four types of Data Integrity:
- Domain Integrity.
- Entity Integrity.
- Referential Integrity.
- User-Defined Integrity.
