What is Eclampsia ?
Eclampsia occurs when preeclamptic pregnant women experience fresh seizures or fall into a coma. There is no connection between these seizures and a current brain disorder.
- While most women with eclampsia recover fully, there is a tiny chance that the severe fits will result in lasting impairment or brain damage. Magnesium sulphate is a medication that can cut the risk of eclampsia in half and lower the likelihood that the mother will pass away.
- Pre-eclampsia is quickly identified during your usual prenatal checkups. Your blood pressure is routinely checked during these prenatal visits for indications of high blood pressure, and a urine sample is examined for the presence of protein.
