Korsakoff's syndrome is a disorder most often associated with damage to the brain.

Specifically, Korsakoff's syndrome affects memory system thus causing amnesia and confusion. This disorder is deficiency disease caused due to Vitamin B1. Also, the disease may occur due to variety of other reasons like chronic infections, AIDS, alcohol misuse and malabsorption. Symptoms of the disease include problems in vision, lack of muscle coordination, mental confusion, drop in blood pressure, coma etc.

The treatment of syndrome is designed as per the causes and hence involves giving better hydration and nutrition to the affected individual. The sources of Vitamin B1 or thiamine are sunflower seeds, meat products for instance pork, beans, sea food such as fish, dairy products like yogurt etc.
