What a dreadful journey! It's been a long time for us, so I'm overjoyed to finally be on Cape Cod. I couldn't properly express how I felt when we arrived; I was "half surprised" by the people's living situations.

It was all "a dreadful and lonely desert, full of dangerous creatures and wild men," with "savage barbarians" who were "readier than otherwise to load" the Pilgrims' sides "full of arrows."

It caught me off guard since I had not anticipated this conclusion. It will be interesting to see how our lives grow here; I believe it is only a matter of time until we find out.

Presently, I feel surprised, happy and at peace.
