A forest fire spread to 41 acres in 10 hours. Each hour the fire spread to four more acres than the previous hour. How many acres were consumed during each hour of the fire?

Respuesta :

0 hr = 1 acre, 1 hr = 5 acre, 2 hr = 9 acre, 3 hr = 13 acre, 4 hr = 17, 5 hr = 21 acre, 6 hr = 25 acre, 7 hr = 29 acre, 8 hr = 33 acre, 9 hr = 37 acre and 10 hr = 41 acres were consumed during each hour of the fire.

Given: Fire spread to 41 acres in 10 hours and each hour the spread is 4 acres more than the previous hour.

Let's say at 0th hour the forest fire was spread to only 1 acre.

Therefore,

At 1st hour, acres spread = 1 + 4 = 5 acres

At 2nd hour, acres spread = 5 + 4 = 9 acres

At 3rd hour, acres spread = 9 + 4 = 13 acres

At 4th hour, acres spread = 13 + 4 = 17 acres

At 5th hour, acres spread = 17 + 4 = 21 acres

At 6th hour, acres spread = 21 + 4 = 25 acres

At 7th hour, acres spread = 25 + 4 = 29 acres

At 8th hour, acres spread = 29 + 4 = 33 acres

At 9th hour, acres spread = 33 + 4 = 37 acres

At 10th hour, acres spread = 37 + 4 = 41 acres

The table of how many acres of the fire consumed at each hour is attached below.
