For days 10-27, progesterone or commonly known as pregnancy hormone is produced by the ovaries. It prepares your uterus for possible pregnancy. The lining of the womb thickens since it is the designed to house a potential pregnancy during this period. The thickening of the uterus happens in order to support a healthy pregnancy and to avoid uterine contractions which might lead to miscarriage. It also helps the uterus free from bacteria by creating a mucous plug. Progesterone also increases glycogen to provide essential nutrients to the fetus.
I hope this helps you with your assignment.
