It's obvious, why would British troops be allowed to occupy NYC after losing the war? In war, the victors are the ones that write history (not literally write). Also the unjust British war debts from the French and Indian War in which Great Britian fought in a conflict with France to fight off them invading the colonies that was started by a conflict in Europe. After the war they tryed to force the colonists to pay for war costs. They started the war, it's only fair they protect the colonies from it for free as the Brits instigated it in the first place.
