Answer:
The argument I chose would be the idea of using controlled fires to protect wild areas. Now you may ask why, well the purpose of it is to burn areas so that a wildfire can't spread on the area that you burned. In addition, wildfires rely on dry things such as grass, sticks, trees, and etcetera. If a wild fire does not have theses dry resources the fire will not be able to live. If people do this it can help prevent a wildfire from burning houses and where people live. In a source that I found it states "Hazardous fuel reduction. Forest fuels accumulate rapidly in pine stands and pose a serious threat from wildfire. Insect and disease control. Prescribed fire is the most effective and practical means of controlling brown spot disease in longleaf pine seedlings and cone insects such as the white pine cone." The useful information it gives is how controlled/tamed fires can actually help save wild life. From a source I found named wlns.com states "These carefully staged fires help control invasive species and create critical habitat for wildlife. The planned fires also remove natural materials that could provide fuels for bigger wildfires. In Michigan, plants and animals are adapted to co-exist with fire. Some species, like jack pine trees, even depend on fire for survival. Burned areas regrow quickly, providing food and shelter for animals." This evidence is explaining about what a controlled fire actually does to help a wildfire coming any closer to a habitat in Michigan. In conclusion, this whole essay explains to why I chose would be the idea of using controlled fires to protect wild areas. I hope this shows you how useful controlled fires can actually be.
