I personally feel that it provides a positive influence rather than a negative one. For one, why would it have any negative impact? Buddhists are almost completely against violence and promote a humble lifestyle of peace and happiness(as well as providing hope for some). Second I don't think anyone has ever killed in the name of Buddha... so I see no negative impact Buddhism could have.
