Two classmates have decided to read all the volumes in a popular series of books. Zoe has already read 12 volumes and will continue to read new ones at a rate of 2 volumes per week. Ella, who hasn't started reading the series yet, will read 3 volumes per week. At some point, Ella will catch up with Zoe and they will be reading the same book. How many volumes will each girl have read by then? How long will that take?

Zoe, 12 Volumes + 2Vol/Week
Ella, 0 Volumes + 3Vol/week
- So Ella  has to catch up 12 Volumes from the start
since ella reads 3 Vol/week which is 1 more than Zoe per week, She will take 12 weeks to read the 12 volumes zoe read
So on 12th week they will read the same amount of books


(On the 12th week) Volumes read = 
Z : 12 + 2(12)=36
E: 0 + 3(12) = 36.  

They will have read Volume 36, and this will take 12 weeks.
