What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR is an emergency procedure performed when no heartbeat can be detected. If CPR is performed immediately, it can have a high chance of a positive effect on the survival of the patient.

Conventional CPR is performed by providing chest compression while blowing air into the person's mouth. The ratio is these actions should be 30 compressions to 2 breaths into the mouth. These actions ensure that blood flow remains active, even partially at least until proper medical treatment can be provided.

Thus, CPR can also be a first aid method but in a more serious or life-threatening situation.

Therefore, if a person collapses and is non-responsive, is not breathing and doesn't have a pulse. The first course of action would be to perform CPR.
