As you increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the air, what happened to the amount of carbon in other parts of the ecosystem?

The earth is a closed system, so the amount of carbon in the world will remain constant. That being the case as the atmosphere has more carbon in it we would expect a decrease in the carbon that other parts of the earth and biosphere contain.

The amount of carbon is overall constant in ecosystem

What is ecosystem?

  • "An ecosystem consists of all the organisms and the physical environment with which they interact."
  • An ecosystem is a close unit i.e., container where none of the reactants or products can escape.
  • It will eventually reach to equilibrium ( reaction between production is equal to that of reactant).

Hence, the amount of carbon will eventually reach to constant in ecosystem.
