Answer:

Beth March was an amazing being around 1860 when the events of Little women happened. Beth and I are similar because we both share the traits of being shy, being giving and being humble.

Beth and I are similar because we both are shy. The author explicitly tells us in the book that Beth is shy by saying “Beth is incredibly shy and feels hugely uncomfortable when she has to leave the security of her family home. Interests... playing the piano, taking care of her dolls, and raising kittens. But music is definitely Beth's biggest passion in life.” This sentence from the book tells us about Beth's hobbies and herself, which shows she is a very reserved person. As for me, I am a very shy person when you meet me. For example, anytime i've ever met any new family, or friends, I am very hesitant and shy.

Beth and I are very similar and alike because we are both very giving and selfless. In the book Beth is very selfless while helping watch the baby who had Scarlet fever. I am selfless because no matter what situation I'm in, I always give the other person a bigger opportunity. For example if something is very limited and my friends all want to do something together, since it is limited I will always stay behind and let them have fun, because it makes me happy knowing my friends are happy.

The last reason Beth and I are similar is that we are both humble. For example in the book it states “ Too anxious to attend school and too humble to attempt work outside of the home, Beth ... Laurie and Meg wonder if Mrs. March should be told of Beth's illness.” This sentence is stating how Beth is staying very humble while she is sick, and is too quiet, and humbled to work anywhere other than home. I am like Beth because I am also humble, and an example of that is I don’t do well in society, because I stay a little too humble. For example I used to live in a very bad part of my town, and got so used to everything, which is a way I was humbled.

Task 1)    My Source: https://www.britannica.com/topic/Little-Women-novel-by-Alcott /  Little Women- novel by Alcott authored by The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica on  Apr 22, 2011

This Source wrote about The Little Women Novel written by Louisa May Alcott; It described the main points of the novel and as well the main purpose of the story. I determined this source was credible due to the research and seeing if the information was true. The information told in this source is only facts and not opinions.

Task 2) The Essay: Have you ever related to a fictional and or nonfictional character? Well I know I have; relating to Jo March is the closest character to me in this unit. She is the protagonist in the story and isn't afraid of speaking her mind if needed. She cares for her family and keeps them together, but she also is an aspiring writer. Jo is a lot like me since she cares about her family, aspiring writer, and often has a quick temper.

I described myself as shy, caring, a writer, and bold. I may be introverted, but I can be fearless when the time comes. I like taking charge when needed. Jo is like me in ways, but I wouldn't say shy; She is courageous and bold. In Chapter 2, she spoke her mind and said, "That boy put it into his head, I know he did! He's a capital fellow, and I wish we could get acquainted. He looks as if he'd like to know us, but he's bashful, and Meg is so prim she won't let me speak to him when we pass," This shows she isn't afraid. I also keep my mind on people I'm close to like family or friends; This is a comparison between Jo and I.

Like I said early on, Jo and I care for our family. We both go into action to protect and stand up for our siblings and help them if needed. Jo also knows when you ease down and control herself as well, like when she says, "Everybody is so hateful, I'll ask Laurie to go skating. He is always kind and jolly and will put me to rights, I know," In chapter 8. I also know when I am being irrational and need to calm down. These traits make us similar in ways.

Jo is an aspiring writer and loves to read, as so do I; I love to write and read books for inspiration. She loves the morals of the stories, and I love the drama in stories leading to the moral. In Chapter 4, Jo describes the books she enjoys; "The moment Aunt March took her nap or was busy with company, Jo hurried to this quiet place, and curling herself up in the easy chair, devoured poetry, romance, history, travels, and pictures like a regular bookworm." I love romance and history books since they give me a thrilling feeling. The similarities between Jo and I are most than other characters in The Little Women.

In Conclusion, Jo and I have many similarities compared to other characters in this unit. We are both caring, speak our minds, are bold, love to write, and love reading. Jo March is a character who would be me. She is a protagonist as I mention at the beginning, which makes her fascinating for a long of the story. She shows how she can take the floor and manage; Jo March is confident is so many levels. Jo March is the most like me, and I am glad.
