Which line in this excerpt from Robert Frost’s “Mending Wall” suggests that the speaker and his neighbor are quite different?

1) He is all pine and I am apple orchard.
2) He only says, "Good fences make good neighbours."
3) "Why do they make good neighbours?
4) What I was walling in or walling out,
5) Something there is that doesn't love a wall,

Respuesta :

I'd say 1. I think that it refers to his neighbor and himself being completely different. Pine and apple are very different, although I'm fairly certain you've already come to that conclusion by now. Sorry I didn't see it earlier

The correct answer is "He is all pine and I am apple orchard".

The "Mending Wall" is a poem by Robert Frost which tells the story of 2 neighbors which are separated by a wall. According to the speaker in the poem, he thinks there is no such need for a wall as none of them possesses animals that could cross over and produce any problems to the other. However, he does notice certain differences between both properties which leads him to think both have different lifestyles. nevertheless, both neighbors gather every year in order to give maintenance to the wall claiming that "Good fences make good neighbors."
